i have this weird obsession with washing cars. i don’t know how that is. my apartment is not exactly tidy and neat. many would agree if you ask them. i wouldn’t dare to say that it’s dirty…just not all that neat. clothes from the end of the work day (and the days before) strewn around the bedroom. my jack johnson guitar book partially open to ‘banana pancakes’ from the week before. the dvd’s from a friend still in the player maybe an hour into the movie anxiously waiting for me to return to it to have me see the end. stuff everywhere – though there is a sense to the madness as i have an idea on where everything is…somehow.

but when it comes to my cars, i will stop at nothing to make sure that it is immaculate as possible. rie laughs at this…as most people would. this deep need to keep my car clean, but not have the urgency to do the same with my apartment. today i washed the fit. it had not been washed since october or november of last year. we’ve been having a lot of rain here in the past few months so the layer of soot and dust really never had a chance to take away the shimmer of the silver paint. however, the interior was getting dusty and the windows were showing that dim hue in certain angles. it was time for a wash.

i vacuumed the interior, then took a damp microfiber towel and wiped down all of the surfaces. next, i gave it a good blowdown with pressurized water to shoot off all of the surface dirt. with a good lathered microfiber towel, i soaped it down and gave it a cool rinse. viola! the fit is back looking nearly as good as new.

i love my honda. it’s a 2008 honda fit sport. it has 20,000 miles. 1.5 liters of fury! err – 109 bhp to be exact. it runs perfectly…and it’s weird that after washing it today, it feels like it runs better…like it is rewarding me by giving a nice nurturing.

mostly likely after our trip to japan, i’ll give the same treatment to #1053. it seems to be running a little sluggish lately. gas mileage performance is poor. i also need to change the motor oil and transmission oil. perhaps give the air filter a good cleaning and re-oil. finally give it a good wash and wax to bring it back to life.
